Salt is a basic seasoning used by good cooks everywhere. But at what point does salt go from being a flavor enhancer to a health hazard? According to a handout provided by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), “Research shows that Americans consume on average about 3,300 milligrams (mg) of sodium every day. The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends a reduction of sodium intake to less than 2,300 mg daily.”
